About John Keith

I just finished my Ph.D. in chemistry from Caltech. I was born in Minneapolis and raised in St. Cloud, Minnesota, but I spent several summers in Carthage, Maine. My mother and father are professors at St. Cloud State University (in addition to being a pianist and violist, respectively), my brother is a computer programmer (and a highly regarded professional Irish fiddler), and my sister is also a chemist (in addition to being a singer and pianist). I am a cellist, and music still is a very important aspect of my life. I was a member of the Minnesota Youth Symphonies, the Wesleyan Orchestra, the Caltech Chamber Music program, attended Kinhaven Music Camp, and was a performer with the sing-and-dance troupe, the Singing Strings. In graduate school I was also involved in community outreach through the Caltech Classroom Connection.
